I finally caught a break
I had a .rar file I needed to download from someone else's server that was 14 gigs in size.
All I had was a url so I downloaded it (it took 3 hours) and tried to open it and I got a corrupt error message. It's 3 a.m. in the morning and no one is awake so my only option was to try to download it again (another 3 hours) and unfortunately, it was still corrupt.
The next night they recompressed it for me and this time, it was zipped instead of rar'd.
New file, new extension and a new day so.... another 3 hours of download time but now it's over the 2 gig zip limit so I can't unzip it on my pc. Soooo... I uploaded it to the server where I won't have to worry about the limitation...
15 hours to upload and.... it's still corrupt! Now I'm pulling my hair out and that's a commodity I can't afford.
A new day and I have them tar the file but now it's Saturday and I'm not sure I'll be able to get the file so I'll have stuff to do over the weekend.
I put in a trouble ticket and asked Zak if they could download the file and untar it for me - saving me 3 hours of download time and 15 hours of upload time. It's not really a "support issue" but I was hoping...
Within the hour, Zak used his high powered bandwidth and snagged the file and uncompressed it for me!
A huge thank you to Zak and YellowFiber! You saved me many hours and now my weekend can be more productive!
