Mine is more for a natural disaster or what not and not some doomsday social collapse situation. We've been laughed at for this too. We have enough can goods and other such necessities to last my family for several months. The kids friends will come into our house and think we have SOOOO much food and yet we preach not to waste it.
You just never ever know what the hell is going to happen, and we've BEEN homeless before, we know the importance of always having enough things on hand to aide us in such instances. You don't know what tomorrow holds until it gets here. Natural disasters, loss of a job, I could go on and on and on...... always better to be safe than sorry. I realized this when my family was living in a van and we had no idea how the hell THAT happened.
