Perhaps that question is better suited to the author - I linked the story from the AFP. That wasn't personal opinion.. just passing on information.
But, there may be more to the story... The US is perhaps on the surface acting on its own, but at the same time the Pakistani gov. is conducting the "Bajour Offensive" in the region having killed more than 1,000 insurgents to include 25 in a mission that began Wednesday.
So, ultimately there is more to the 'whole' story than you or I or anyone here is privy to or would completely understand.
