I went in to vote on Monday and was asked if I wanted to vote electronically. I said "sure". When the lady was checking my ID, for some reason I asked if it was a "Diebold" machine. She confirmed and I said, "okay, I want a paper ballot now." She laughed, as well as the lady behind her, but I insisted, saying I was a nerd and read too many tech articles. I eventually had to use a provisional ballot.

Moral of the story: When you sign up absentee and somehow forget that ballot's in your house, your chances of using an electronic voting machine, even when you don't want to, get smaller.
