For me the choice is pretty simple.

Obama offers a different voice. Bush and the republicans have held the white house for the last 8 years and have had both houses of congress for 6 of those years and 10 of the last 12 years. After all that time they haven't seemed to have done much other than get us in a war we shouldn't be in, shoot the deficit through the roof, destroy the economy (I know they are not the only ones to blame, but when the team doesn't play well you fire the coach) and greatly divide this country.

I'm ready to go down a different path. To me McCain is a terrible manager. He has revamped his campaign staff 2 or 3 times just in the last 6 months and constantly seems to pick people who are not right for the job. Then he picks Palin who, frankly, scares the shit out of me. He clearly doesn't lead well and seems to make rash, hail mary pass type decisions. McCain has also done 180 from the guy he was just 4-5 years ago and that also troubles me.

On the contrary Obama has run a great campaign and has seemed to lead his group well. To me being president is all about surrounding yourself with good people, managing them well and using their input to make decisions. Obama seems to be the better of the two at doing that. I also like the idea that much of the world seems to like Obama. He would instantly have favor with these countries while McCain may have to spend time convincing him that he isn't a Bush clone.

Another reason for me picking Obama is the supreme court. There are 3 judges who are in their 70's now and might be ready to retire. 2 of those 3 are more liberal types and one is a conservative. If all three retire/die/get ill or whatever in the next 4 years and have to be replaced McCain might fill all three seats with very conservative judges and we could see things like Roe V Wade overturned. I prefer my supreme court with a mix of both conservative and liberal judges on the bench and Obama would provide that.

My last reason (at least that I can think of right now at 3am before I head to bed) is that he will have the house and senate controlled by democrats. It is possible that the senate will actually have 60 democrat seats. This means something might actually get done because the democrats would have enough votes to break any filibuster that the republicans might do. I hope they don't use that power to pass too many bad laws and do stupid shit and I'm sure they will do some things I don't agree with but the last 8 years has been one party trying to block the other party and it seems like nothing gets done until there is a crisis.

Anyway, these are some of my reasons.
