Why would you want too do that? You lay out approx 2k for the server, add to that data center costs, tech support, routers and a ton of other overhead. Now at best you make 1-2 bucks per meg, so MAYBE (but most likely not) you will break even in 3 years?..........Just doesnt make sense. You cannot run a profitable business of any kind when you sell your product at a loss or a 3 year breakeven point.
If the man whats to offer me a good deal, so be it. I of course being on the consumers side of fence, wouldn't complain. There's always the possibility that some of the Internet providers are over pricing the larger web hosts. When you think about it, the pressure is on as technology advances so its only logical for pricing to become more and more competitive.

This same business model applies in many other areas. I've seen even large office supply stores like Staples overcharge the larger companies for supplies while regular consumers/walk-ins are paying 30-40% less at the store. I believe the mentality behind this all is "They are big and profitable, they can afford to pay more". I've often found even myself quoting a price dependent on the person requesting it. If the person seems small-time/broke then I would naturally go lower and vice versa.
