either you setup a round robin or load balanced server all over the world OR you stick with a good host and one that makes backups and is able to set it back in no time in the event of a HD crash
We do backup everything here as well but taking a 2nd car with you while you go for a ride in case the first breaks down isnt the best solution imho

You weren't aware of the recent issue with theplanet? Quality host, quality network... big downtime. It's not just the individual server parts you need to think about when preparing a disaster plan, there could be a massive event that affects a huge number of customers for hours or even days. The only true reliable backup (whether live or otherwise) is off network and off site.
