No, that is not your freedom. The freedom to assault does not exist in America, no matter how much you disagree. If you believe that's your "right" or a freedom you have, you don't understand the country you supposedly served.

Well, that's a different issue. I'm not unrealistic. People have limits and violence happens. A personal attack is a different matter. If he said YOU are scum because YOU served in the military and YOU deserve to be blah blah blah... then I can understand a physical response. However, to assault someone merely for expressing an opinion you find distasteful is extremely lame. It doesn't matter how vociferous he was, it is his right to say what he wants. It's never your "right" to instigate physical violence.
Also, as a self-proclaimed patriot you should be held and should hold yourself to a higher standard of accepting others' rights to excercise their freedoms.
