It wouldn't matter if there was a real republican on the ballot. That person wouldn't win anyways. The reason most republicans lean to the left is so they can appeal to more people. There are things that real republicans believe in that won't help most people. The same can be said for hard left democrats. Fact is there hasn't been any "true" republicans in the whitehouse in many, many decades. Even Regan wasn't "pure" because it just doesn't work. Real republican ideals allow for a lot of people to sink, rather than swim and democrat ideals give too many people lifesavers to hold to, even though they could swim on their own. Neither party is ideal. Both have strayed far from what their intentions should be, working together, taking the best from both sides and even third, fourth and fifth sides to make America better for everyone.
