Unlimited Travel on United Airlines 12 Months First/Business/Coach Class

Hey - this might be a bit crazy off topic...but I figured some people might be interested.

I have a couple friends that work for United Airlines that I'm doing this on behalf of. I'll try to explain everything as clear as possible below.

How does this work?
United Airlines implemented in a new travel program last month (9/08) that allows employees to add designated "friends" to their travel benefits for a period 12 months. More specific details can be found at http://www.jumpseatnews.com/crew/d/p...Friend_FAQ.pdf

Where can I fly to?
Any destination United, United Express and Ted goes to. Codeshare flights currently do not count. A list of destinations can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...s_destinations, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...s_destinations and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_destinations

Is flying standby, can I fly in First or Business class?
Yes, flying is standby. Whenever there is a seat available on the plane, you get on. Generally there is. Also, when a seat is open in First or Business class, you can take it as well.

What is the process for booking a flight?
Just simply call or email the employee, and they'll book the flight and return your confirmation code.

Are there any fees or other costs associated with flights?
In some cases, there will be slight additional costs with each flight such as airport taxes. You're responsible for whatever additional fees or taxes are involved. For example, a flight to Tokyo round trip may cost $90 in first class. Domestic flights are generally free in coach, or $15 each way if flying first class.

Is there any risk involved?
Naturally an offer this good is not without risk. If united goes out of business, the employee gets fired/laid off/quits, the the travel benefits are lost.

What's the cost?
The price is $3,500 for 12 months for 1 person.

It's a pretty cheap way for those who want to see the world. Anyhow, if interested or have questions, shoot me an email at brandon [at] parodosi.net.
