Thats the Republican arguement on the matter for sure but its actually just spin.
TO debunk the SPin that is attempting to be portrayed one has to look closer at 1995, which was a good practice by the Clinton Administration. THe banks moved to the Sub Prime mortgage not because the Democrats placed a provision on Mortgage terms but because the Republicans came in and de-regulated the Mortgage Industry Terms shortly after which would be 1997 which is what truly triggered the sub prime problem.
By de-regulation loans were sold like baseball cards even ones where Predatory lending practices were in place which were also of course authorised by the Republican controlled Congress. It was the Republican COngress that added language to the one established in 1995 to the result in 1997 all the way to the present.
