I like their new release. It is not identical to "Master Of Puppets" or to "Ride The Lightning" but it is alot heavier than their most recent releases. In my opinion, I think that has a little to do with Robert Trujillo being in the band. I don't think the guys are ever going to go back to the days where just about all of the songs are like "Master Of Puppets" - song after song - and if they want to stay as successfull as they are then they really shouldn't - coming from a marketing standpoint. If they did, they would probably lose nearly 50% of their fan base. And for the guys that are being so harsh on them, I don't think that's very fair if you ask me. I mean, they are trying to continue their progression but yet, also trying to sustain the heaviness in at least parts of the new release so that the old school fans will still like it. I mean, listen to this new release and then listen to the last one. You can tell that it is heavier and the sound is so much better too. With the last release, Lars sounded as if he was pounding on a tin can instead of a snare drum! I hated that! Don't get me wrong though, I prefer the old school shit too. I am 38 years old and I started listening to them at the age of 14 years old so I definately know my Metal.

All in all - it is not the same Metallica that we grew up with back in the days of "Kill 'Em All", "Ride The Lightning" or "Master Of Puppets" but in my opinion, it is definately the best Metallica release that they have put out in a long time.
