Even half a benadryl is a lot for a dog. I take one tablet and I get tired, and I'm 200 lbs. So half of one for a dog would be like me taking 4, even more relative to a smaller dog.
If he's really listless, make sure to bring some water by him and hold it by his mouth in case he wants to drink. When dogs are tired like that they won't walk to get water no matter how thirsty they are.
