Recent Palin lies continued....
She lied about her support for families of special-needs children.
Sarah Palin said during her convention speech ?To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters. I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.? Campaigning in Colorado on September 15th, Gov. Palin promised renewed attention to kids with special needs. She declared, ?Ever since I took the chief executive?s job up North I pushed for more funding for students with special needs,? and cited her own family?s experience with the issue. CBS News reports: ?Sarah Palin might have changed her mind on this one recently. However, Palin actually slashed funding for schools for special needs kids by 62%?. She also vetoed $275,000 in Special Olympics Alaska Funds. Source: CBS News. September 23, 2008
She lied when she said the teleprompter broke during her speech at the Republican National Convention. Several national media reporters who had clear views of the teleprompter during the speech, as well as the convention organizers themselves, proved this was a lie.
She lied about Obama's position on habeas corpus during her speech at the RNC convention. She said ?Al Qaida terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America, and [Obama is] worried that someone won't read them their rights.? Fact Check, a nonpartisan, nonprofit, consumer advocate for voters, reports ?Obama isn't worried, as Palin said, "that someone won't read them their rights" when it comes to suspected terrorists who are detained by the U.S. He does, however, support the right of detainees to challenge their imprisonment in federal court. That's the same position the Supreme Court took in June in a case called Boumediene v. Bush.?
She lied about her alleged tolerance of homosexuality, she told ABC's Charles Gibson "Oh, I don't know, but I'm not one to judge and, you know, I'm not going to judge them." This was a lie. She does judge them. Reports The Associated Press: "Gov. Sarah Palin?s church is promoting a conference "Pray the Gay Away" that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer.. she opposes rights for gay couples."
She lied about her previous statements on climate change. Climate change is a critical issue. Here is what Sarah Palin told Charlie Gibson during her interview on ABC: "I think you are a cynic because show me where I have ever said that there's absolute proof that nothing that man has ever conducted or engaged in has had any affect, or no affect, on climate change." Here is what she said last year: "I'm not a doom and gloom environmentalist like Al Gore blaming the changes in our climate on human activity."
"There is a very powerful pattern of Sarah Palin's difficulty with telling the truth. Here we have some clear facts and chronology about events in the public record that happened only a couple of weeks ago and Sarah Palin's stories are hopelessly contradictory. This pattern of her outright and constant deception is now unmissable." ? The Atlantic
?I thought Palin's speech was quite good: well-written, well delivered. And, as I said earlier, I think she's a genuinely engaging person, and comes across very well. There were just a couple of problems. One, which I have seen people notice.. is that it had very little substance. The other was that she told a lot of lies.? ? CBS News
