It would be a rumor, if an actual news/media source printed it, saying they heard it from within the DNC directly but can't confirm it. Then, it would be a rumor - until then, the stupidity clearly continues.

Also even if a person had heard it from a credible source, they are not going to say who that source is. You also can't back up a rumor. You can post links to it, but that doesn't make it true.
