Without strong stems you will not be able to grow big buds, imagine a tomatoa plant that could not support the tomatoes? It would fall over, snap and die.

in fact if you do not start out your sprouts with a fan blowing on them CONSTANTLY to strengthen the stalks, you wont have much luck.
