But you can grow tobacco, and people still buy cigarettes. I just don't think this point is valid. They tax the hell out of tobacco, and they should do the same for cannabis.

People are laaaazy, they'll still buy it, especially if its legal.
Plus the alcohol industry lobbyists are always fighting it. Fact is, people drink less alcohol when they smoke cannabis. And the health industry would eventually suffer with less alcoholic related medical problems.
and I posted this the other day... the US Government wants you to know, alcoholic beverages are known human carcinogens.
