Dealin' with flakey, amateur wannabe models is an occupational hazard and to be expected.
We've had our share of no-show models over the years, or first-time amateurs who balk when they realize they aren't getting a few grand for a few hours of shooting. Many wannabe models have misconceptions about the industry and the money and think they're entitled to a king's ransom in wage right from the start.
As others have pointed out - be thankful they even called to cancel. Much of the time you don't even get that courtesy.
Better that they cancel before a shoot rather than come back at you weeks later and beg you not to publish/distribute the shots. I'd sooner have someone flake from the start than deal with the 'regret' confrontation after the work's been done.
