For an industry sorely lacking in market research, there are certainly a lot of unspoken rules in porn: ?Don?t have too much storyline,? ?don?t get too artsy,? ?stick with cliches; they sell!? The drab, insipid list goes on and on.

I?ve come to suspect that these rules are not the result of what audiences have truly asked for ? rather, they?re what satiates the lowest common denominator. Or to be fair, perhaps it?s just that the average consumer has resigned his or herself to the fact that when it comes to porn they shouldn?t expect much by way of quality: not technically, not performance-wise, and certainly not from the dialogue.

The funny thing is, it takes just a little imagination.....
They might of, but today there is no reason for someone to buy this type of porn other than the convenience of downloading and quality. Tube sites will provide this level of porn in scene after scene. All the same they just change the girl on the sofa and sometime talk to her. Often it's just a straight anonymous fuck that's clearly faked and clearly false. Why sign up to a site with 100 scenes like this when you can go to a Tube site and get 1,000 for free?

For 8 years the emphasis has been on exclusive content and that's good. But then the buyers just shot the same scene or similar time after time and the exclusiveness only mattered to the industry and had little meaning to the consumer. Girl on a sofa porn is just a girl on a sofa, different girl, guy or sofa does not make it exclusive to the consumer prepared to pay for it.

So what does make a scene exclusive? Build up, storyline or situation and the girls personality, character and reactions all make it real. The sex will always be the same, a pussy being fucked, fingered, licked, or done with a dildo is always going to look the same. A scene should have no more than 10% pussy close up, once in every position is good enough. And if the girl is faking it badly showing her face is not a good idea.

So why has the industry got so out of touch on what the customers want to buy? I include the DVD industry as well on this as some of their content is total garbage. Private dub over the girls faked moans so badly it makes their scenes a joke.

The drive over the last 10 years has been to put more titles on shelves year after year for the same cost. Include more traffic to sites and more sites. If you continually drop the quality of what you sell you get to the point of the buyer asking himself why should he buy.

Welcome to 2008.

You can of course continue to blame others for stealing your disgruntled customers and spend more money sending more traffic to sites that continue to see worse ratios. But those who step out of the rut and produce what the customer will buy will win.
