I may agree, but isn't renaming fries not only childish but what the hell does it acomplish except that we look stupid, because french fries are not french and nobody calls french fries french fries except for us.

Actually they most of them don't hate America, but they're looking out for their own interests. As you've probably read in my other posts, France has a vested interested in preventing this war from happening b/c ...

1) France is responsible--to this day-for 25% of Iraq's imports, trade worth nearly $1.5B to French companies.

2) French national oil giant TotalFinaElf recently negotiated a contract w/Baghdad to exploit Iraq huge southern oil fields worth an estimated $40 - $60B. They need Saddam in power for this contract to come to fruition.

3) French companies have been violated U.N. embargo restrictions for ages.

Fuck them.
I can understand why you might feel this way, but unfortunately the global economy is completely interdependent, and if other countries wanted to fuck us over financially they could. Aside from divesting from America, they could boycott American products, initiate a trade war, trade all their U.S. dollar reserves for Euros, among other things. The "fuck them" approach to diplomacy sadly is impractical .

Right now we have debt that (per capita) rivals third-world countries. Our economy is more fragile than one might think.
