That's what "Devil's night" is. It's one of those holiday's not really celebrated (or even heard of) elsewhere, but it's not uncommon in Detroit. The land that a lot of the houses sit on (excluding those with unhealthy levels of soil toxins), is worth more than the structures. The taxes are shit though.

Did anyone hear about the house in Pontiac a few years (5+), that was torn down by accident? It was the crackhouse next door that was supposed to be torn down, bu apparently the whole neighborhood was so bad that when there was a mixup, they couldn't tell the difference. There was a lawsuit (of course), but I never heard the outcome.
