Sorry that he has to live with the fact that he was a part of or complicit in the deaths of thousands of Iraqis, again based on 100% lies from the Bush admin?
Sorry that not everyone will honor someone stupid enough to do all of the above then take up for the idiocy because he's so patriotic?
What exactly should he be honored for?

He should be honored for the sacrifices he made while serving in our military. He has earned the right to state his opinions and for your right to state yours as well.
If I were in his position I would be mad as hell at the Bush administration and expressed a different opinion. But, he has chosen to express himself in this way.

That's what I would have done.
I don't know how those in charge of the war can live with themselves knowing that they lied about the reasons for the war and did not properly equip and prepare those they were commanding nor did they concern themselves with their care and well-being after their service was completed.
Then they denigrate the character and ridicule the patriotism of anyone who questions their war and how it was managed? They are the unpatriotic ones who have done disservice to the country. They should be ashamed of themselves and their behavior.
(Full Disclosure: I served in the military in a non-combat support position during peacetime.)
