Sex ed can't be left to be taught just by parents. You said it yourself, too many parents don't do a good enough job (or any job at all). If it were left just to parents there would be a large increase in teen and unwanted pregnancies not to count STDs. All you have to do is look at the parts of the country where abstinence only is taught and you will find those are the same parts of the country where they have the highest rates of teen pregnancy and teen transmitted STDs. The republican's don't like welfare, but if they take sex ed out of schools they are going to be helping to create a lot of welfare mothers because, like I said, most teen moms are not governor's daughters of Britney Spear's sister, they are typically poor or from lower income families.
People are going to screw. That is the reality. Biology always wins. Biology beats values, morals, peer pressure, religion and fear. Not every single person will, but 90%+ will give into those biological urges and if they have no real education you would see a huge increase in teen pregnancy. There are many experts that think that the abortion rate has dropped over the last 20 years because sex ed has become a common thing in schools so there are less and less unwanted pregnancies. It sounds find a good to leave it up to the parents, but many parents suck and leave their kids in the dark. If their parents are going to give them the tools to make good decisions with someone else needs to.
Also, I understand that McCain is not the oldest candidate and maybe he will be fine. But he has had melanoma, which is the most deadly form of skin cancer you can get, four times. His medical records are nearly 500 pages deep. The guy is not the picture of perfect health.

I think they cheered for him for all the heat he is taking. He is just a kid, and he has all of these people attacking him. He made a mistake and I think that everyone should lay off of him and Bristol Palin. I do not care what party you are from, kids should be off limits. Their parents are running for office, not them. The only problem I have with sex ed in school is that it is not always proper in what they teach. I have friends that are teachers and they say a lot of these kids do not have the first clue about sex and they are 13 and 14. Before you can take the class your parents have to sign a permission slip. Many parents don't sign it. It should not be left up to a school to teach anyone's children about sex 100 percent. The high schools here actually have day care at them. In reality that is not the schools job. There are a lot of piss poor parents out there.
Yes I know McCain had Melanoma, but he is free of it now. He recently had a check up. When you live here in AZ, they inform you of everything that he does.
