You can't compare Obama's mother with Palin's daughter because Obama had no control or influence over what his mother did before (or after) he was born.
I think the personal family shit shouldn't matter. However, it is relevant because Palin and republicans like her don't want us teaching our kids about condoms and other methods of safe sex. They want us teaching our kids to not have sex at all, and the education begins and ends there.
The end result of that sort of "education" is Palin's daughter.....who might not be pregnant had someone explained safe sex to her.
If you set a standard, then you have to live up to it. The reason Palin gets shit about her daughter that the Clinton's never got over Chelsea is because 1) Chelsea was never pregnant, and 2) The Clinton's weren't sticking their nose in other people's bedrooms.

You have to be a special kind of stupid to compare Palin's children to Obama's parents.
Obama had absolutely no influence over what his parents did or didn't do before or after he was born. Palin has major influence over her daughter, and again, it wouldn't be an issue if she wasn't a vocal opponent of sex education.
As a matter of fact,
IF Chelsea had been pregnant, the conservatives of the 90's would have said that it was Hillary's fault for pursuing her own ambitions and neglecting her duty to raise her children.
Apparently that's not the case for an abmitious woman who opposes abortion and has an (R) after her name though.
See, the argument for abstinence only sex education goes like this.
Conservative: We should teach our children to not have sex before marriage. This is the only way to be 100% safe from pregnancy and disease, plus it's morally right.
Liberal: We can tell our kids not to have sex all we want, but alot of them are still going to have sex, so we should also teach them about condoms and other forms of protection, in case they decide not to heed our advice and have sex anyways.
Conservative: Well assuming ahead of time that your kids won't listen must mean you're not a very good parent, my children listen to me, you should do a better job of raising your children. Besides, if you show a 15 year old boy a condom and his thoughts will turn to lust.
Liberal: If you show a 15 year old boy a lug wrench........
Anyways, that's the point. It's important because they (conservatives) made it important.
