Agreed. Democrats really should just use the same strategy. I don't know why they don't. Want to pull out of Iraq. Why? Because it's what Jesus would want; he was a lover, not a fighter - turn the cheek kind of guy. Cut taxes for the middleclass and raise for the top 2% Why? Because the Bible says to help out the needy.
Repub politicians laught at the Christian Right but understand they need them to hold office so they play it up. Nobody, Repub or Dem, can ever come out and say that the Bible is hogwash and expect any support in the country. That would be political suicide but Dems straddle that suicide by not embracing religious rhetoric.
