If the President dies, the VP becomes Pres, but the Speaker does not become VP. The Speaker becomes President if both the President and VP die, otherwise, the new President appoints a new VP.

The New President could leave the slot empty, or we need a majority vote of both Houses of Congress. Even the idea that Nancy could some how, in some far reach of away become President even today, is scary.
