Well what I am experiencing right now is not what the locals around here used to do, pre-katrina.
They used to ride the storms out and it wasn't a big deal. But now after Katina/Rita, Fletch is seeing even his own his family react differently than he was used to. They are ready to get the fuck out of here. So things have changed. People are already booking hotel rooms in other states.
Yesterday we went to buy some groceries and the local store was already out of water, and the news had just hit about the hurricane. Un-fucking-real.
People were at the gas station filling up giant gas cans, and we filled up our tank because if you wait til last minute you are fucked. It is just absolutely crazy, and its making me look around and think to myself, "Why the hell are these people living down here if this is what they have to do everytime a hurricane looks like it might hit, even a week away??"
Feels like I am living in a Stephen King book right now.
