The cop was exactly right in what he did. That guy was in no fit state to drive and the cop had a duty to everyone else on the road to make sure he had calmed down before letting him back on the road.

As for people who say that they think of their pets as family members... well that's fine. But to the rest of the world it's a dog and not a valid reason to drive like at 100mph and put peoples life at risk.
