If he was going to pick an old Washington insider, why didn't he just go with Hillary Clinton. She brings way more to the table then Biden as far as votes. You swallow your pride, throw those die hard Clinton supporters a bone and you walk away with the election.
I've always thought McCain was going to win. I'm pretty sure of it now.
