Anyone who has some knowledge of search engines will definately see ways to get quality links using the script. But I think the margin for error for anybody else is greater and has more tragic consequences then just not getting listings.
A Webmaster who knows little about seo can generate a bunch of hardlinks through networking and oldschool emails or webforums, and at worst, he may end up with a handful of half-assed links.
The same webmaster installs a script like this (thats rarely hidden or set properly) and sets it on autopilot, but only after spamming his hardlink on the other 200 link ex sites he found in the "link ex trade post". If at any time, any sort of repurcusion happens due to the autoadd features of the link system, their sites are doomed.
I have spoken about what I thought the dangers of such scripts was(in the thread spoke of above), and how so many of the users are just blatent spammers, but I think its important to understand, its the USERS that make it dangerous. If common sense is used to monitor and aquire your links then you will be ok.
IMO, any "auto add" link script is just a grey area that google hasnt rolled public updates on, when they do there is going to be a major serp shift, and all these spam sites ranking now with their cheap backlinks will fall just like all other ways have in the past.
Legitimate, hardworking, quality sites will maintain results longer then any other type of results. Even in this thread someone said it changes everyday.
You know what doesnt change that much? The guys who make good money off the engines, I see the same few guys dominating many terms much like they did 5 years ago when I started. Everything changes but quality will always remain top and dominate the laws of averages.
