If you want to talk about principles we could be here forever going down the various avenues of principles but if this has just attacked your personal ego then i would drop it.
I have found in life when the shoe fits the other foot then things are fine only when things do not work out in whatever situation then it becomes woe.
Besides do not be surprised if the person whomever was in a clever disguise well aware of the situation and was just out for a ride that night.
