I've been there. More than once. It doesn't feel good and I knew out of the gate that it was not going to go where she wanted it to. Yet I stuck it out for a while for some dumb reason.

almost every time, but the word "love" is wrong, because you can still love someone but not want to be together anymore (love meaning you care about them and what happens to them, but not to the point of sacrficing your self and your freedom in staying with them)
...edit: to clarify my post, I mean you can be in love with someone even though you still dump them because freedom trumps everything else
