Almost every time I see a designer or coder looking for work I see some bullshit excuses. I need a new iPod, I need a new TV, I need 21" rims... For fucks sake guys. It's not like you're doing something bad here. You aren't considered a failure if you're looking for more work, just because you need money. There's no need to post an excuse to make it acceptable.
I'm so tired of the way people act around here. I think all the pimps, huge stacks of cash and hot rides on every fucking webmaster related site have intimidated some of you.

Some people REALLY are in need. In my case, I got an unexpected illness between jobs and spent two months in the hospital while my rent and utilities went unpaid (just got a 60k hospital bill). When I got home, I was on oxygen and was told to expect a long recovery. I still have limited mobility, which makes it hard for me to get a regular job, so this is my only option.
I placed a few posts here looking for work and although i got some well-wishes and bumps, nobody contacted me. In some cases, I was ridiculed (not that I didn't expect that on GFY).
I don't want a fucking ipod. I want to pay my rent and utilities. If getting people's pity is a means to that end, that is what I will have to do then. When you have nothing, you have nothing to lose. It is a very humbling experience.
