I used to write for a music magazine and had a couple of people recognize me and ask me to sign copies of the magazine. I also won a writing award a while back and my story was published in a small independent press book with other stories. I went to a couple of small conventions to do publicity for them and signed some books for people.
Also, I wrote a short story for a magazine once and got a letter from a woman in jail who read it and liked it and wanted me to sign a picture and send it back to her in prison. It was a little creepy.
