So I was watching a porn movie last night (not a scene but a whole movie) from one of the top porn companies in the world and I was blown away with the shitty quality. Not only was it produced by one of the top companies, it was also directed by an industry legend, someone who has been in the business for years and is well respected. The camera work was krazy bad shit, not smooth, very amateurish and the audio sucked ass. They used an on-camera mic for most of the flick and I could hear the guys hand on the camera. I could hear the wind blowing across the mic! This was not a gonzo movie, this was a feature movie, with a plot, a script, a decent budget and everything...featuring a new girl that the company just signed. Even the editing sucked ass...I just couldn't believe it. The editing was choppy and very amateur'ish!
Before I watched the movie, I thought to myself how awesome this movie will probably be. I wondered if I'd learn anything from watching it. Would I be inspired by the beautiful camera work? Will I witness some beautiful lighting? Could I learn anything from watching the editing? I was anxious to see how a successful major player in the industry edits their feature movies. To be honest, it was trash. The videography was trash, the audio was trash and the editing was trash. They should have been embarrased to put their name on that - especially that legendary director. Sad - very sad!
A few years ago this company was putting out pretty nice stuff but today...it appears that they are putting out trash and living off of their reputation as a big player.
Why is it so difficult for people/companies to have some pride in their work? To hire people will skills to produce their content? Twistys is one of the few companies (there are a few others) that actually care about what they put out and who listen to their audience. They give their customers what they want and everybody thinks *wow*, what a novel idea! Twistys is successful in part because they run their company like a mainstream company. They give the customers what they want and they take pride in their product. It's no wonder they do so well and why everyone else is scratching their heads wondering why Twistys is mega-successful and some people are barely making it.
Take pride in your work people - it really ain't that hard
