You hit the nail on the head of why America is greater than Europe.
But hit that nail so badly you missed the point.
Look at the US economy prior to 1914 and then again in 1939, then again 1960, 1980 and 2000. Look at how it changed from a largely rural to an industrial economy. Then look at why and who paid for it.
Two World Wars largely made the US what it was. A world leader.
Now look at the US economy 2008 and see if you see a trend.
The US will always be a major power, it produces a lot of food, energy natural resources. The problem will be if it can produce enough to stay on top.
Europe will always be different nations. Well for our life times.
