It's awesome that she is comfortable enough and proud enough of her body to do that. I think that is more common in people who are born with defects -- if she lost her arm in a traffic accident I'd say it would be more likely that she would wear a prosthetic arm, both for looks and functionality.

The functionality of her having a prosthetic arm is limited now that she is an adult. If you never, ever had a left arm in your life, it's gonna take a lot more getting used to before a prosthetic arm is useful enough to be worth the hassle, than if you had that forearm your whole childhood and just lost it in some accident. I know if I lost my arm, I'd want some sort of substitute please, and make it quick.

I say kudos to her for bucking the trend, pushing the envelope and dispelling our own internal intolerance towards those who aren't perfect or fit the mold. Cool stuff.

I'm sure she must an incredible one-handed typist!
