Hmmm I dunno... I'll argue them all just to argue I guess.

1. - WinXP has been a hell lot more stable than RedHat 8.0 for me

>> Try FreeBSD or OpenBSD, or good RHL cbt from Learnkey or something.

2. - Programs for Linux are more likely to be poorly written.

>> I'm not allowed to use enough of these --> . Lets just say, at least in the unix world there is a thing called full disclosure & problems are usually addressed within HOURS instead of MONTHS, or worse - covered up indefinitely.

3. - IE is the application i use the most often and it is the fastest browser out there.

>> Total shortage of 1:orglaugh's here.

4. - I like using WinXP but programming for Unix platform, which does not neccesarily require me to install it on my home PC.

>> I'm not quite sure what your saying here. I think your saying you like to code (php, perl, C, etc) on windows even though your programming will ultimately reside on the unix box? Seems to me like it would be better to program (and test locally, in real-time) on the unix box no? Like you would have apache on the same local box to test php/perl stuff etc instead of having to upload changes. Unix makes for much faster real-world development (unless your running Windows as a server)

5. - WinXP can be as free as Linux ;)

>> LOL... uh, then your WinXP (and everything else no doubt) is about as insecure as it gets. EULA's don't apply to people who didn't purchase the software.

6. - WinXP boots in 30 seconds exactly. Linux takes forever.

>> Not only is your WinXP box slow, but something is wrong with your linux install as well. My *nix boots up so fast its silly (Barring fsck's anyway)

7. - WinXP is easier to use, yet it provides many advanced features.

>> I spose I'll give it easier to use (for the average computer user).. and that it has more applications.. much more, and through the evolution of these applications, SOME applications or functions are more advanced.

But when it comes to networking and security, *nix has windows beat hands down. And with as much as people use computers for these days, security & privacy shouldn't be taken lightly.

I'm sure more than 25% of the people on GFY, and around the globe, have unknown/unwanted visitors on their computers.
