No, no, no . . . . I don't know who owned it, or when they owned it, but when MTV started, they played anything and everything. Most of the music on MTV was NEVER broadcast on the radio. NEVER!!

It was waaaaayyyyy offfff the beaten path. Sure they grew quickly, but for years they played hidden bands and never heard before songs that would never have seen the light of day otherwise.

Over time there was a slow cross over where the "mainstream" radio came toward MTV and MTV went toward "mainstream" radio. Today there is NO difference.
