Anyone know what would cause a bunch of wordpress blogs to suddenly have old posts starting to get weird characters appearing in them?

For instance, apostrophe's get replaced with weird characters, and sometimes words will be surrounded by characters like this: Â

Seems to happen only on hand written posts too. I don't think my RSS feeds are being affected.

Pain in the ass, I have been going back and editing old posts to get rid of them.
