A server looking after 100 simultaneous connections hanging off a clear 100Mbit or gigabit hosting network is a little different to downloading a single file over your relatively low bandwidth 8Mbps connection........ I reiterate that reading or writing one megabyte per second is not hard work for a standard HD. Not by a long shot.
