I quit smoking a different way. I had read that smoking has a lot to do with your mind being conditioned to smoking and to quit, you recondition it as a non-smoker. So every day for about 3 months I told myself that I was quitting on New Years Eve, and would never smoke again. This helped reinforce and condition my mind that this was going to happen.

New Years Eve I smoked my last cigarette, put on a patch and went to bed. I woke up in the morning, decided I did not want to use the patch, I was a non-smoker, and would rather go through hell a few days and get it over with. Hell never came, when I got the urge to smoke I would eat a couple of pretzels and I have never smoked again.
It was SO EASY. I smoked for probably 20 years, I smoked more than a pack a day, and just telling myself for 3 months I was quitting was enough to convince me I was a non-smoker.
