The Olympics have always been influenced by politics, at least since 1936. And the US boycott and then the USSR boycott in the early 80's made nonsense of the so-called "Olympic spirit". The Games have become way too political.
How about not having the Olympics any more, and putting on the World Cup every two years instead of every four years?
