Yes that is the best way to go to shows ... with a plan.

There are, however, genuinely a lot of people who abhor sales reps. Reps, who by the way are mostly just trying to do a job, are viewed as the lowest rung on the ladder while a lot of them are likely making more money then the webmasters refusing to speak with them.

I did not mean to come across critically but I think it is a valid question?

What's in a show?

I still find conferences invaluable for any of my B2B products because there is a different mind set that comes with those sales pitches... I am dealing with other people who want to actually hear a pitch.

I guess I am wondering.. based on conversations, comments and posts outside of this thread as well as within:

What do the guys who are solely working in this biz as affiliates think about achieving when they go to shows?

I mean Rob's card shared some incite... he wants to know how the rep can make him more money...that is valid. How does he expect this to happen though if he is not open to adding new sponsors? Maybe that sponsor that isn't on your site COULD make you more money... obviously the ones you work with are productive but could it not also follow that other sponsors could be as or more productive? Could you not hear that rep out and then demand a huge bonus incentive to get the deal working in your favor?

Just some food for thought.
