You capture the footage once and all the clips reside in a bin or a folder and then you can have multiple sequences each with it's own timeline with different edits of the same raw footage. Oh ok I get it now. I would go with Vegas. The great thing about Vegas is you can learn just enough to do what you want to do and then later you can get as deep as you want.
