Yes, VMWare is awesome. Although dual monitor doesn't work in unity mode. I hear it's fixed in the latest version though.
Toast is used for burning discs. You can do it through the OS but it sucks.
Zips are handled by the OS. Rar just google it and download whatever you find. I forget what I'm using. I think it's unrar or something.
