If you are asking me to think only as a surfer, not the porn producer & content owner that I am, I would say that, yes you are god dam right I would want to download and keep the videos if I am paying $20-$30 or possibly more for a web site subscription. I don't consider that much money the cost of a "rental" as you describe it. And I would be very irked if I could not, so much so that I would look for any technological solution, software or screen capture for example to do so. I am picky and it would take a site that had content that I was very interested for me to pull out my credit card, especially at this stage of the game, and I would want to keep whatever I was paying for to look at it again and have it in my personal collection.

Now I know that there exist a lot of VOD sites, mega sites and even some unique pay sites that only offer streaming, and surfers are okay with that since like you say, many guys just want a quick whack and no evidence left behind. But I consider that the mentality of surfers joining those sites that have a lot of varied content a little bit differently than a surfer who joins a solo girl site or a singular porn site with a theme. In my experience the overwhelming majority of those guys would be pissed they couldn't keep the videos and would express so. But if it works for you that's great. I may consider a solution like that it in the future if I have some special projects. But for now I am mostly selling downloadable clips with no DRM and I don't feel compelled to try it yet. By the way, one other issue, if you ever decide to release the same content on your sites on DVD or BlueRay, that's another way your stuff could get pirated.
