Sites like this will always rank well in the engines, if the surfers love it and it creates community, the rest will come. They dont lie when they say build for your surfers.
But there is a differance between SEO's and "mom and pop" sites like this one. In reality they are the competition, what we as SEO's try to do is rank our own sites within the great list of these sites like DD that go0gle has come up with.
