I've always been a skeptic because nobody has come forward with a body or any bones. Only bullshit castings of huge feet and a bunch of unfocused video clips.
But, after this past weekend in an area I've camped my entire life I'm kind of stumped as to what it could have been. Unless there is some animal I don't know about in the northern California wilderness that can chuck 5 pound boulders and move 100 pound rocks there is no other explanation.
Enough BS I'll just tell you guys what happened.
So I'm camping with the family, we take a trip once every year. We like to fish so we decided to camp near a stream about 15-20 miles out from West Point, CA. It's down an old logging road and maybe 1-2 people have camped there in the last 6 months from what we can tell. Well we decided to drive a little further down this old logging road which now has little trees growing in the middle of it.
So we get there and park the truck. We walk a couple hundred yards in each direction up and down the creek trying to find a good place for our tents. Anyway, we ended up finding a spot a couple hundred yards from the truck. So we hike all the ice chests, tents, etc.. Down to where were camping. We are at least 3-5 miles from any people. We didn't see any cars all the way from the ranger station at the top of the mountain to where we turned off of up on winton road.
Down in this valley where the creek flows it's a great place to camp. Anyway, the second night were there. Were all sitting around the fire and its getting late I decide to turn off the lantern and let the fire burn down. You can't really hear much other than the loudness of the waterfalls in the creek. So we have the entire family sitting around the fire, everyone wore out from the day of hiking, fishing, swimming, etc.. Not 10 seconds after I flip out the lantern which was illuminating our camp and the mountain side across the creek from our camp, a 5 pound fucking boulder makes a huge thud and smacks one of the legs of the table we had set out about 10 feet away from where we were sitting.
Keep in mind I've been camping my entire life I've spent probably a couple years of my life in the woods. Nothing has ever made the hair on the back of my neck stand up like that. Me being the logical person that I am first looks at the only person that would pull such a stunt, but turns out hes looking at me with the same dumbfounded look on his face. So at this point I grab a flashlight and search the ground around the table, figuring something fell off the table like a pot or a stove or some shit. There isn't anything laying on the ground, I mean if there was one time the entire weekend we were there that the camp was clean it was then. I looked around and thought maybe a fucking pine cone or something fell from one of the trees but there aren't any around anywhere. Just a big fucking boulder that flew in from across the creek. (we learned it came from across the creek by the dent the rock left in the leg of our new table we just bought on the way up there. It damn near creased the leg of the table in sideways.)
At this point I'm pretty nervous about the whole thing. I decide to go to bed and everyone else does as well. My tent is probably 150 feet from where the rest of the family is sharing a big tent, it was the only place I could find smooth enough to sleep on. Well still fresh on everyones mind about a fucking boulder getting thrown into your camp, naturally it's a little hard to sleep. About a half hour after everyone has gotten settled in and I'm just dozing off. All of the sudden we all hear a big crash, like something just picked up a 100 pound rock and threw it in the middle of the creek. It's an unmistakable sound if you've ever thrown a big rock in a pool of water.
Needless to say my family was pretty shaken up and I'll even admit I was as well. I've been in a lot of hairy situations and shit but theres something to be said about being in the middle of the woods a few miles from anyone and something is out there fucking with you. Also anyone on the board who knows me, knows I'm a pretty straight forward level headed person. I don't bullshit about things like this.
So this goes back to the question in the title, do you think bigfoot is real? After this weekend I'm leaning towards YES.
