Most of the complaints I hear about Real Player are an older version. Download the latest... it rocks.
For some sites, real media is the best choice. If you just have 45 second stroke clips mpeg looks best.
.wmv and .rm both look like shit by comparison. But if you have a 5 minute clip, Real Media is the only one I ever could get an an acceptable resolution and size. At larger resolutions, it blows away windows media for any given filesize - it yields a more acceptable movie.
I have never had a single customer complain about Real Media. The latest version is a quick free download and runs on any platform.
